You’ve finally made it. After a long, hard, injury riddled season, you have made it to the championship game for your fantasy football league. From the elite first round pick, to the waiver wire addition in week 7, you’ve bested the rest of your league and proved to everyone you are a fantasy football god. But now, it all boils down to this last play. You’re down by 1 point, and the Texans are running out the clock at the end of the game. Arian Foster gets the handoff and is stuffed at the line. Time expires and you don’t get that last point to be crowned the champ. You’re officially the first loser.
That taste in your mouth is revenge. You need to unleash your team on the league this year, to make it back to the championship to prove that it wasn’t just a fluke. I’m here to help you with that. Fantasy football comes back tonight, and your craving for football will not be satisfied; you’ll only want more. For week 1, here are my picks for who you should be starting, and who needs to warm your bench like a hot potato.
Starts:
QB: Brady, Luck, Rodgers, P. Manning, Wilson, Bradford, Tannehill, Newton, Roethlisberger, Stafford, Ryan, E. Manning, Romo
RB: Lacy, Ivory, McCoy, Miller, Stewart, J. Bell, Hill, Anderson, Forsett, Murray, Peterson
WR: J. Jones, Ca. Johnson, D. Bryant, Cobb, J. Matthews, Aglohor, Beckham, V. Jackson, Green, Tate, Brown, Edelman, Maclin, Hopkins, D. Adams, A. Johnson, Hilton, Landry, D. Thomas, Wright, Allen, Robinson
TE: Gronkowski, Olsen, Graham, Kelce, Rodgers, Bennett, Witten, Cameron, Ertz
Defense: Jets, Miami, Carolina, Tampa, Minnesota
Duds:
QB: Taylor, Fitzpatrick, McCown, Bortles, Kaepernick, Cousins, Hoyer
RB: Forte, Blue, Gore, Jennings, McFadden, Hyde, Crowell
WR: Cooks, Jeffrey, Watkins, Decker, Wallace, D. Jackson, T. Smith
TE: Miller, Daniels, D. Allen, Fleener, Walker, Cook, Clay, Rudolph, V. Davis
Defense: Chicago, Washington, New England, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Giants, Dallas, Atlanta
This season, there are some situations on teams that are just toxic. My own personal advice is to stay away from the Redskins this year completely. With an offensive line that swiss cheese would be embarrassed to be compared to, and a complete lack of defense, the team is a dumpster fire. Although Dallas had the league leading rusher, their running back situation this year is something I wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole. In Tennessee, they have first round pick Marcus Mariota, but not much else on their offense. Jacksonville is still a work in progress, so stay on the other side of the street from Yeldon, with the exceptions on the roster being Robinson in PPR leagues, and Thomas once he returns. With what seems to be a record of retirements and departures, San Francisco seems to be left in shambles. I really would prefer not to have any shares of that team at all.
So there it is, my week 1 opinions. With fantasy football, it’s hard to project and predict what players are actually going to do, so take all of this with a grain of salt. If you have any questions about who you should start feel free to tweet @SportsLanding.
